At 6 months, it isn't a present for the child. The infant won't know it is a present. It is a present to the parents. At 6 months, perhaps a toy that makes noises or plays a nursery rhyme. Perhaps a chewing toy since gums are pretty itchy at the time. Winter is approaching so perhaps soft warm flannel crib sheets. The infant needs lots of wash cloths, sleepers, 1-sies.

Whatever you get for her, give the both of you a present by holding her in your arms. Make funny faces. Make baby sounds. It will make your heart and her heart leap with joy.

Nothing too expensive. They grow out of this age toys so quickly. Some books, a teddy, clothes. My kids were 9 months on their first Christmas (7.5 now) one got tickle me Elmo the other Tickle me cookie monster. What a waste of money that was. They have never had any interest in them. I love baby Fisher price toys and the Little People range. She will grow into them quickly. And remember, she has no idea what is going on so really it is for your benifit so don't go over board.Peek a blocks are great
Have a look through this site, it does it in age groups

That age is the perfect age to introduce some toys, they really start to explore & play. Blocks, Roll arounds or even a cute little outfit.

I would get her a personalized Christmas ornament. She can have it forever, and it will always remind her of you. My mom bought my sis & I one every year, so when I moved out, I had a tree full of ornaments. Now she is doing the same with my daughters.
