Well, usually women say about 60,000 words per day as compare to 40,000 that us guys would say. Therefore, I would surmise that women would talk about sex more often than men. However, us guy are more into seeing and doing than talking.

Also, there are a lot of steamy novels out there that women love to read but again, us guys are more into seeing (which is more quicker) than spending the time reading about it. In fact, it would be interesting to see how many women will answer this question as compared with men.

When people dicotomize others according to socially constructed categories (gender) the information they give out is riddled with logical fallacies. Constructions of gender are cultural in content. So, men and women from the US might talk about different things in different amounts than men and women living in another country. And in some countries, there are more genders than just men and women.

Now, if we go into sexes, there are over 30 of those. Sex is actually on a spectrum. It isn't just a clear cut "male" and "female: those categories are socially constructed too.

You are more than welcome to check out my group where further information on these topics is discussed in fuller detail.

My answer to the question is: it is possible in some areas depending on what people are teaching each other about what is appropriate gender performance, and what isn't, for any genders the culture is writing scripts for.

Not the women I know...

The only time I hear the women I know talking about sex is when they're complaining about being sick of seeing it on television and sick of having a culture that does nothing but talk about and show sex.

there is no doubt that women talk about sex more than men.....LOL......THE "GIRL TALK"....or at least we seem to ...if guys talk about it more than we do we will never know because they do not admit it ..With women it is a tell all in some friendships.......not that I think the when wheres and how need to be told but I know lots of people who share all with other women....I guess it IS girl thing...May be it is because women are comfortable enough with them selves and the actions they partake in during sex than men and we are not afraid to talk about it.

I heard once that guys think about sex once every 3 minutes, and women once every 20 (don't know who conducted this study, but it seemed plausible at the time).

So, that got me to wondering, approximately how many times do you think about sex on a daily basis?

Either as a number of times, or percentage of the day!

Sex is on the minds of many people. According to Sex in America: A Definitive Survey, results of a sex survey conducted by Edward O. Laumann and fellow researchers at the University of Chicago of more than 3,400 adults show that 54 percent of men think about sex every day or several times a day; another 43 percent think about it a few times a month or a few times a week. Comparable numbers for women are 19 percent and 67 percent. People think about and have sex primarily because it feels good, because they care about or love their partner, and because they want to have children. Whatever the reason, it is natural to want the experience to be as intensely pleasurable as possible. One way to help ensure sexual satisfaction is to be sexually fit and healthy.

Thirty-three percent of women say they are not interested in sex, compared with 16 percent of men.
Twenty-one percent of women say sex is not pleasurable, compared with only 10 percent of men.
Twenty-four percent of women say they cannot orgasm, compared with 8 percent of men.
Fifteen percent of women experience pain during intercourse compared with 5 percent of men. In addition, 20 percent of women say they have trouble lubricating, a problem that does not apply to men.

Men do surpass women in having anxiety about performance (18 percent of men versus 11 percent of women) and in climaxing too soon (29 percent of men compared with 10 percent of women).
