My husbands' grandparents receive Medicaid. The other day, they got a letter in the mail. Guess what? They now have to PROVE they're American citizens if they want to continue to receive it. How stupid is that? They've gotten it for awhile now, and now they have to send in IDs, birth certificates,SS cards, passports and other things. Shouldn't the people who are non-citizens have to deal with the extra paperwork? How about the government sends them some letters telling them to a) apply for citizenship or b) not try to obtain benefits illegally?

It just bugs me to see these people who have worked hard all of their lives having to prove something in order to get the help they need to be able to go to the doctor and get medicines. Sorry for the rant, but does anyone else see how wrong this is?

I think this is because they are checking everyone who receives state or federal aid.....because they want to get a grip on illegals. It sounds stupid but I believe that is true because I heard one of my friends talking about her grandmother having to send in some form of id I think for Medicaid or Medicare. I forget. I seem to remember her saying that the worker told her that they were doing this because of illegals.

It's a hassle, but the world is never a perfect place. Our society cannot self regulate by an honor system, we still need law enforcement even though vast majority are law abiding citizens. Look at it this way, if everyone has proven to be who they say they are, then the government will not be wasting money on people who do not deserve it. We're being asked for I.D. quite often, like when we fly on airplane or go to the bank, we should NOT be angry because we're asked to participate in a system that is trying to protect us.

she cant quit any of her jobs bcuz then she wont b able to feed her family so ya the social security system sux
and i kno another person that just sits at home all day and smokes meth and the government still gives her money

so it is like if you work and need help we wont help you but if you dont work we will pay for your care

its encouraging people to be lazy tellingthem if they dont work the government will take care of them

I think what they were trying to do is make sure a deceased persons SS# and identity are not used by an illegal or a thief to gain benefits that they are not entitled to.
But yes it does suck.

Here's what's wrong with your government. This is the secret and evil group that's been in control of everything for far too long!...

God knows about it. The Bible has the ONLY solution. Repent, fast, and pray for your country so that God will hear your prayer and HEAL OUR LAND!...

Of course it's wrong, but that's the result of all the false claims of illegals "sponging" off the government.

And people wonder why we are so angry about the illegals? This is a perfect example.
It is a shame, and I hope your grandparents get it all sorted out.
