i have cheap calculator and need answer for 522-16%

There are two ways to interpret your question so I will show you both:
1) If you mean 522- (16% of 522) your answer is
522-(.16x522)=522-83.52=438.48
2) The way it is actually written, the problem is 522-.16=521.84
Percent usually denotes a percentage "of" some quantity
so the first answer is probably what you want.
By the way, I do not have a calculator either. Pencil and paper
still works and in this case may have been quicker.

16% of 522 is 83.52 so you take
522 - 83.52 = 438.48

You know, you have a cacluator on your computer, too.
