After more than 2 decades, why did they discontinue this bike?? It was perfect.... It's been removed from the 2007 lineup, but I haven't heard an official reason why.

It is sad to hear that the Kawasaki Vulcan 750 is being discontinued it was a great bike that was extremely powerful for a V-twin and could run off and leave most all stock Harley Davidsons no matter what their size is. It's just like the question I have about all the discontinued dual purpose bikes, what's happening to them as well?

crazed & bluffmike gave good answers. Here's another to consider. When Kawasaki & Suzuki merged, since Suzuki is the dominant partner, they decided to "clean house" and discontinue the models with declining sales. I don't know the #s, but perhaps Suzuki's Intruder model is a better seller ( I don't see it though. On the road, Vulcan 750's are more popular than the Intruder"s by 10 to 1).

The only reason a manufacturer discontinues anything is because sales aren't meeting expectations.

They don't need it. Sales of the newer models have made it superfluous. Honda did the same with great models to concentrate on VTwins.

The business of Kaw or Honda is not to make great bikes, but to make money.

Not sure. Perhaps it is because of a move towards larger engines? Kawi is making a 2 liter v-twin now.
