Ordinarily I'd say the burner had died, but if you have two burners, and both died at the same time, I'm more inclined to think that something happened to corrupt the driver(s) for them. What I'd suggest is that you go to the Device Manager in Windows, then the Hardware Manager, find both drives, right click on each and choose "Uninstall" for both. Then exit, and restart Windows again. At that point Windows should find your drives as "new hardware" and automatically install the drivers for them again. Then try burning/reading in the drives. If they work, fine....if not, chances are that the drive(s) will need to be replaced. They're not that expensive nowadays, and if I were you I'd replace the CD burner(s) with a DVD/CD burner in its place. Good luck.

Believe it our not it could be do to spyware and adware. If you have DSL or Cable try this:

Check out this information on my website. http://www.risingsonltd.com I call in VAPS (Virus Adware Pop-ups Spyware) it's all over the net. and if you have DSL or Cable internet and never had your computer serviced for software issues, then I want you to run Spybot Search & Destroy & Adware. Which can be found on our website under VAPS removal.

Try this also if your running any Windows OS OTHER then 3.1 and 2000. Click run, type in MSCONFIG... Click on the tab that says start up, remove the check from any program that is BLANK or the path is in the c:\windows\system32 and ends in *.exe, usually this is directed to spyware.

Just to test it out you can also disable ALL and do the same under the settings tab... make sure you click the box that says hid microsoft services... just to make sure u don't turn off anything windows needs. Restart

Try to burn a simple, very simple file... if it works you problems is solved.. in the shop I charge $225, for what I give away for free on our website... some people just don't want to take the time. In the mean time please keep check my site, for info and changes.

Go to "Device Manager", then find both drives & delete them. Then turn the computer off then back on. If it doesn't clear up, then you have bad drives that need replacing.
