They are laying their eggs someplace even though you have a clean home.

Fill your kitchen and bathroom sinks with boiling hot water and add a cup of bleach, let that sit about an hour before draining and that should take care of any that are hatching in the water that remains in the drains. Another place you may not have thought about is houseplants, they can hatch in the wet soil so remove any houseplants and see if that makes a difference. Look around, get rid of anything that might have even a minute amount of standing water (check the drain pan under your refrigerator too, its where the water goes on a self defrosting refrigerator).

Take your trash out several times a day, wash and dry your trash bin before returning it to your kitchen. Don't keep fruit out on your counters, keep all open cereals in tupperware type containers or sealed freezer bags.

Wash everything down with a solution of hot water and 10% bleach to disinfect anything the gnats may have landed on. Keep your window screens down and windows closed if possible so that more bugs can't get in easily.

I hope this helps.

At this time of year they probably aren't gnats, they are fruitflies. It's easy to tell if they are fruitflies, they have bright red eyes. Now you're wondering how the heck you're supposed to check. If you look at one while it's on a surface you'll be able to see the eyes very easily.

You're first defense is to clean the sink drain, they like to breed there. Any drain cleaner will do, but since you're expecting get someone else to do it for you. Also, check the sewage drain in your home.

Make sure there is no standing water (soaking dishes, milk glasses, etc.). Also, make sure that any bread products that are out are sealed completely. They get into even the smallest gap in bread ties! Don't leave wet sponges on the sink after you've cleaned.

Keep your fruit in sealed containers or in the fridge until you get rid of the little buggers.

The easiest and fastest way to get rid of them completely is to use an insect fogger from the hardware store. It will require the home to be empty of people and pets for a minimum of three hours and another hour for airing the house out. Again, get someone else to do it for you. When you return home, vaccuum everything (empty the canister or bag) and wash all counters and surfaces.

That should take care of them.

you have to clean out all the counters and cupboards and all old food. if you have a closet in your kitchen then clean that out completly too. any bags or containers you have in there might have the eggs in there so throw them away or clean them throughly. after you clean a spot like in a cupboard spray it with bug spray. make sure when you spray to leave the area cause you don't want to inhale that stuff. try to get rid of old cereal and pasta boxes too. after you have check every place in the kitchen and clean and kill all bugs and eggs with bugspray you may want to get one of those bug repelent things that last a while so that the bugs don't come back. you will also want to make sure to keep all food kept outside the refrigerater sealed and closed at all time so that eggs can't be layed in them.

even if you get rid of fruit the'll still linger. One thing is they hate the cold and coould die, so have a fun blowing in your kitchen. another drastic measure is cover your dishes, etc. with newspaper and spray the whole place with bug spray that "raid stuff". And last i think this may be the best solution, light one of those candles that deter bugs, they contain the chemical, i forgot what it was called, serinella? good luck.

If you have house plants, these could be fungus gnats. You need to get rid of the source of food to get rid of the gnats. I found on a site that if you put vinegar in a jar, punch holes in the lid, the gnats will go in but not be able to come out. If it's not house plants, check your sink drain.

Nats? They are probably baby flies from the garbage and might have nest somewhere in your house. They have sprays in the supermarket to kill them, but won't do any good if there is a nest that they're hatching from. try to look for the nest and spray it if you find it or they'll keep popping up.

well nats are usually at something rotting... and feed off of that... maybe something fell beside or behind the stove? do some seroius spring (fall) cleaning... you will find what they are feeding from. then they will go away... even something like a dried pool of koolaid can draw them....
