All metal cleats have NEVER been allowed. Most football cleats now are a hard plastic with metal tips. The length varies up to a maximum allowed of 3/4".

meta cleats were worn from 1920, up until the mid 1970's. a lot of those years, with no helmets.

if you have to ask, just imagine someone kicking you in the leg or face with metal cleats on. they can cause serious harm. if you get caught they can kick you out and if you hurt someone you can be held accountable. its not worth it.
