Some as a pronoun means an indefinite quantity or number as distinguished from the rest,as, some will come.As an adjective it means an indeterminate quantity or number,as, have some cake.A an adverb it means approximately,as ,some 20 houses lined the street.Few as a noun means a small number,as,a few knew the answer.Few as an adjective means not many,as few children could answer the question.

A few usually means 3-5 and some is more than that

But they are coined as indefinite and can therefore resemble any number more than 1.

It is all in the context it is used.

eg : Some people say ...... (usually you do not say "A few people say........)
A few people gathered ......... (usually you do not say "some people gathered......)
