one or two degrees is a low grade fever, enough to feel it.

The average body temperature (measured orally) of the average healthy human being is 98.6ºF (37.0º C). This does not mean that everyone should always have a temperature of 98.6º F. An individual's normal temperature may be slightly higher or slightly lower. A body temperature between 96.8º F and 100.4º F is considered to be within the normal temperature range.

That's a good distinction. I'm not a doctor, but I would suspect 2 degrees.
My reasoning - when I was a chemo patient they told me to watch my temperature closely, and if I reached 39 I was to drive immediately to the emergency room.
I am one of those with a lower normal, and there are times when I know I had a fever, but I wasn't at the magic number, so I stayed home.

Yes, people can have something other than 98.6 and that's normal for them. My "normal" is 97.6 but it varies according to time of day and that's common with folks, especially those of us with minor thyroid problems. I can be 96.8 or 97 when I first get up in the morning because my temperature drops during the night.
Since I generally run a degree below normal, and "normal" folks are considered sick if they have 101 temperature, then I take it serious if I get over 100 degrees.
