Gidget was a TV show based on the movie. It was in the 60's and yes, Sally Field played Gidget in the TV show. I used to watch it when I was about 11-12 years old.

Yes, I do remember the Gidget show. It was only on for 1 year between 1965 and 1966. It was a great show. One of the boys on the show teased her and called her Midget. I think it was one of the surfer fellas. I love almost everything Sally Fields ever did. I wish she would put out some new movies.

Gidget was a T.V. series for only 32 episodes under it's belt.{09./15./1965-09./01./1966.}
The show was based on the Gidget movies staring Sandra Dee & James Darren.
The show didn't do very well, as all Gidget & her friendas did were surf,go to school & pretty much lay around talking on the phone etc. The story lines were lame, even for the 60's.
The stars of the show were as follows:
Don Potter--Prof. Russell"Russ" Lawrence(.Gidget's father.) {He passed away in 1997--Natural causes. R.I.P. Don.}
Betty Conner--Ann Cooper. {Gidget's sister.} She was married in the show to John Cooper, a psychology student --Played by Peter Duel.He (committed sucicide in 1971 by self inflicted gunshot.)
Jimmy Hawkins--Paul--A friend.
Martin Milner--The Great Kahuna.{ He later went on to play Officer Pete Malloy on Adam 12 with partener Officer Jim Reed played by Kent McCord.}
In all the Gidget movies there was a Moondoggie" A.K.A. Jeff", so in the series they had him away at Princeton & just mentioned in a couple of episodes.
Bobbie Darren was Moondoggie" A.K.A. Jeff" in the Gidget movies.

Gidget was this innocent girl in a bikini.... on a beach... who had a daddy and no mother... and was always getting into innocent trouble... with Moondoggie....rent the 1959 movie... it actually starred Sandra Dee as Gidget. The TV series starred Sally Field.

Yes, I also remember the Gidget show on t.v. I happen to like Sally as an actress, too bad she didn't do more acting in her life.

I remember it. It was called Gidget and she would surf a lot. I use to watch it when I was maybe 7 or 8. Of course those were the re-runs.
