I was listening to the radio today and the host was talking about a small spot on Jupiter and how scientists are interested in it because it is changing color. He said the spot is the size of Earth. How weird is that to think about?

The "great red spot of Jupiter" is a storm that has been visible on the surface of Jupiter since the telescope was invented. It is fascinating that the storm seems to be dissipating now when we have good methods to observe it and try to understand. Fun science.

Not wierd at all. Jupiter has a thick atmosphere that is in constant flux. Things such as this might be expected to occur.

It is hard to think is such large terms. Just imagine that it takes 3 days to travel over 240,000 miles to the moon. That is over 333 mph. And the moom is the closest celestial body to us.

It is so awesome to think of this. I love it when we move forward and progress in our knowledge of things outside of our immediate surroundings. The more we learn; the more we realize how little we really know. Knowledge and information are so exciting.
