what do you think the future of metal would be like? what i think is that industrial metal will be most popular in metal and that theyll be fast techno beats and people would mosh to that and the 'traditional' metal sound will be the same but with way more heavier distortion and better drum sets. the vocals will stay the same i would think

I don't know...I may be a bit old school but I like metal bands that play the music and aren't about tattoos and all of that rubbish, which is what it's all about today....I highly recommend Tank.....from England....100% metal....no bullsh*t.....simply the best!!

Sludge? Torche, Neurosis, Mastodon, High on Fire aren't sludge is there such a genre? they are however all great bands that I can agree with. Most these bands aren't really that "New" or the future of metal. Torche has members of Floor and I believe Tyranny of Shaw (which by the way was a great band cut too short) Mastodon had members of Today is the day and released several records and they deserve their spot. High on Fire exmembers of another great band Sleep Neurosis been around probably the longest of these bands, nothing new here but still a great band. Hands down the best records coming out are from Deathwish Records so far (been saying this over and over)this year you have Trap Them which just signed to Prosthetic Records they released a split with Extreme Noise Terror. You also have the new Doomsrider that is amazing and they did a split with Disfear (Tomas At the Gates) Deathwish also released the newest Great Deceiver which also features Tomas. We can not not mention Converge new album which I think is their most experimental record to date and sounds great. Personally I think Deathwish had the best Split Records of any label they mixed their newer bands with older bands which remind me of the Coalesce/Napalm Death split on Earache Records (new Coalesce is amazing as well) what a great idea. There is no trend, when a band makes a great record its a great record. The bands you mentioned will always make music that you know you need to listen to.

I think that (true) metal will remain relatively unchanged for at least a couple more decades. There are a lot of fairly new metal bands these days that sound like they came right out of the 80's (e.g., Hibria, Twisted Tower Dire, Pharaoh, Cage).

I dunno man. I just went to Gigantour and as long as Megadeth is alive I'll be happy. To me, there aren't any interesting bands out there. I liked Opeth. I used to like Metallica, the old stuff, I wouldn't pay full price to see them now. Lamb Of God were just too loud to be understood. Over Kill was good. The new singing in Metal or (growl) doesn't do it for me. I miss the Bruce Dickinsons, and Dio and Scorpions kind of singing. As for change, it's here to stay. I'd like to see the old ways come back but I maybe getting old...NOT!

I think metal will continue to get heavier and louder but at the same time I think they'll make it more complicated with more solos and more speed involved. Like lamb of god, they have some complicated songs with speed, technique, great harmonizing, and great soloing.
