Get a friend to teach you.

If you have rythm then let the vibes of the music flow through you and dance to the beat. When you feel the music you can dance all you want. But if you are trying to learn, look really hard and watch first before you try doing what you see on the television don't want ya to break ya neck. Learning off of a music video may be hard because they already know how to do it, so they may go quicker than you need them to. If you can't feel the music flow through you than ask a friend for some help, if your friend can't dance then i don't have anything else to tell you but keep on trying!!

yes you can actually dance better when you are alone, but this is more than saying it, it takes a lot of concentration on yourself, study yourself what you are good at and what touches you the most, ask yourself in the most silent moment of your solitude, do i have to dance? if this answer come with a soft yes, then dont untill you a answer that comes with a sharp yes and go on to the stage, talk to no one then begin to discover yourself,
i think when you go for classes its good but that wont make you a dancer, it will only make you learn about another person, which is the teacher

This is like asking "Will I get healed from my disease without going to the doctor?"

Generally you can buy medicine books and try to heal yourself somehow.... but if you really want a thorough checkup and get you really fit, then you'll pay high to get a qualified doctor who can help you progress through until you're really well.

Same with dance. Videos and books can show examples, but can they provide you feedbacks on what you're right and wrong? A friend can teach you, and you'll be like your friend. Is your friend a professional?

And don't forget one thing, if you get injured during the process for watching and trying the wrong thing, and no one is there to help you, it's your own fault.

Do it at your own risk.

go to the library and rent some videos (if they have any) on how to dance. or you could go to a movie rental store to pay a cheaper price, but i doubt that they'd have those types of videos there. also, if you keep on playing and replaying the music videos, (and watching them while dancing) you'll get the hang of it. to see how you look when you are dancing, one way besides dancing in front of a mirror once in a while is to make a video of yourself and watch it.

You can always record the videos you like the most and slow them down when you replay them. I know a few choreographers/teachers that teach the choreography straight from the video and that's how they do it. No sense in spending money when you can do the same.

ok so some of these answers above me are reallllly long but imma break it down ok
so just count off by 8
1-2-3-4
5-6-7-8
and watch movies to get an idea on how to dance
and make sure you don't just copy the moves
add you own flavor and show you not famous people
always be yoursel and dont worry about looking stupid cuz napolian dynamite took that role
so just listen to music and feel the ryhthem
and imagine wat proffesionals would do
and dont forget to add your OWN FLAVOR 2!!!!!!

hope i helped

The best you can do, get yourself a big mirror, put on your music and dance in the mirror. I have my own dance group and i started out for years danicing with myself in the mirror. Its enjoyable, every move you see and every step is supervised, believe me!
