If you don't mind country music, here are 3 to pick from:
1. At The First Fall Of Snow-several singers including Rose Maddox or The Maddox Bros. & Rose Or Hank Williams sr.
2. He Stopped Loving Her Today-George Jones

They are so many sad yet beautiful songs of this kind. The first one that camee to mind was "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro (1968)
You can hear it at youTube. It's really a tear jerker!

Another beautiful song of someone's mother who has passed away is Connie Francis's "Mama"
Also "Candle in the Wind" by Elton John

Josh Groban's "To Where You Are"
Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory's so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me from up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave
Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Pearl Jam- "Last Kiss". It's a remake of an old classic. I think it might be "Last Goodbye" as stated above...
Or how about Buddy Holly "This will be the die that I die"
Or how about April Wine "November Rain"
Or how about "The Way"- by Fastball... (They were a one hit wonder but it was a good one...)
Come on! This is too easy...

Brooks and Dunn have a lot of good ones. Most country music. You can always find one. Brad Paisley and dolly partons is the best though.
