A cash flow plan? You mean a budget right?
Well, it's always helpful to know what kind of money you will have coming in, what your basic expenses are, and how much you have leftover to spend, save or invest on other things.
Probably the biggest value is that when doing a budget, it becomes necessary to discuss financial goals and how they will be achieved.
Do you want a house? How will you save the down payment? We have to budget for a new car, where will the money come from? How much will we put away from retirement? All these questions and more get answered by preparing a budget to meet the couple's financial goals. It's puts both of them on the same page so they don't spend willy nilly.

Welcome to the number one reason why people get divorced.
And impact a marriage it will...we are talking money for Christ's sake!!!!
I'm not sure if your'e married yet...but I am...and let me tell you from experience...get your ideas about money out now....and yes have a written cash flow plan...because you will be ready to tear your partner a new asshole if you disagree on how money is spent and or saved.
We learn our ideas about money from our parents...so you guys can begin the discussion there because we usually do what our parents do...
My husband and I have the same viewpoints on money. I cannot tell you how helpful this has been to the success of our marriage. This includes starting a business, investing in real estate, and paper assets. No wasting it on doodads or expensive clothes/jewelry. These things will get you nowhere fast.
Life is to be enjoyed...but when you break the bank over BS...say Sih-ya-nara to love....it will all go out the window....
When people consistently disagree over money it leads to resentment...do no go into marriage blind.....

Writing out your goals and plan is the best way to achieve them. By writing it down, you are accountable to it and you have a frame of reference to review.
The number 1 problem in marriages is money.
