I have tried to ask this question twice now- and seem to not just be saying it right...
What are the best places- bars-lounges to go to in Vegas when you are in your 40's and it's your first trip.
I love to have a great - wonderul (sometimes wild time)- but don't want to be surrounded by 20 year olds.
Thanks.

It would have helped if you'd been specific about the type of place; sedate, luxurious, hip/sylish, country-western, 80's-90's pop, current hip-hop/dance, ... It really is more about the style than the age group. And is the club scene really all you're interested in? There are so many shows, lounge acts, comedy acts, impersonators, and attractions of all types that you may not be aware of. PLEASE do some research! I didn't start going to Las Vegas until I was about 40, and I don't even go to clubs. Try looking at the sites below; I use them when I go twice a year. This is pretty necessary because things change so fast that the place you loved a year ago can be a different place already. These are very up-to-date and informative sites and they give lots of categories to help you find what you want.

I lived in Vegas and worked at the Mirage...I have been to most of the clubs Vegas has to offer, and honestly I have seen all ages at every club. It just depends on what you want the theme to be and how young and adventerous you are.

Dont listen to the "What happens in Vegas" garbage. People have ruined that town with that mentality. Just go and have a good time. Again, I worked at a casino there so I can recommend a few, Im biased to the MGM properties. But there are many off strip casino's that are nice as well. Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock (The newest), South Coast in Summerlin are all good ones to check out too. I also worked for an airline and can steer you in the right direction as far as good deals on airfare and when to go.

If you are wanting to be REALLY wild, check out the Green Door and Red Rooster.

Good luck and Viva Las Vegas!

I travel to Vegas every few months and have for the last 10 years - I'm in your age bracket and I suggest going to the best hotels - not the dives. i.e., Bellagio, Venetian, Mandalay Bay. I found Paris and Alladin to be boring.

I personally prefer either Bellagio or Venetian. They have great areas on the casino floor that have live music and dancing. They are great fun - I always have a wild time! Really!

The younger grown usually can't afford the nicer hotels - they would rather go to the clubs where the younger set hangs.

Just go and have a good time - it's what you make it! The possibilities are endless!!! :)

First time I saw this question but I may help a little.

I have been to Vegas twice, both times I was late 30's and early 40's. I can't name specific places for you to check out but we had no problem having an absolute blast. Vegas is actually geared to the older crowd (IMHO).

Just go and have a good time. You WILL find things to do, trust me!

The last time I was there I saw Purple Reign, a Prince tribute band. Most of the crowd was 30+, and everybody had a fabulous time dancing to the tunes we grew up with! The band rocked. (The intermission is way too long, tho.) I think they have a regular Sunday nite gig at Mandalay Bay and a regular Friday/Saturday nite gig at Santa Fe Station (way off the Strip, near Summerlin).

Since I don't know you or your tastes or budget that is a very hard question to answer. I go about every two weeks and I'm over 40. I know the local joints, the must sees for the first-timers. I know the adult shows, limo services, cheap, free, and really expensive experiences.

You can email me and I can give you details and an agenda of suggestions.

Also check out these web sites they have links to every hotel, nightclub, and special coupons including a $37.50 per person for 4 nightclubs and limo service.

Greetings
May I suggest the Mirage Hotel and Casino. My friends who have spent time in Las Vegas suggest this location for you. Some of the things you will find at the Mirage Hotel is the volcano that erupts,Cirque du Soleil, some of Siegfried and Roy's animals,a spa and of course an adult playground of bars and casinos. You can book your trip to Las Vegas on my online travel agency. Just visit www.godsgirl2travel.com. Have fun on your first trip to Las Vegas and don't forget what goes on in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas :-)

I have lived in Las Vegas since 1973. I would wonder though why at 40 yrs. old you are still interested in those types of behaviors you so call fun. You might as well go to Las Angeles, it`s just like vegas, plenty of porn, drugs, hookers, strippers, pimps, murders, child abuse. If that type of town sounds like fun to you, you might want to take another look at who you are personally. Stay out of Vegas, nothing good can happen there, it`s a toilet bowl. CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED !
