its nt really a rule or law.its more of lane dispicline and to alert the other motorists on the road.for an example, if a car is speeding quite fast from the back, and u just change into his lane without signalling, an accident or what might happen.so it will be better if one can signal before changing lane.

No! no such law in Singapore. Is just a warning to others of my intention. Should an accident occur, I'll can said that you never turn on your signal, no proved of it unless a strong witness (outsider) where there is no relation to any of the drivers.

a alternative aswer to this question is. Do what you want others to do to you. If you signal ( meaning you're polite), you would like a polite answer ( meaning letting others give way to you ), but i know that does not always happen. That's why singapore is not one of the countries listed in the friendly country list. Ha..
