I recently went on line for the comic strip Overboard and Pirates of Penzance and it is not the one I am looking for. I remember the comic strip featured 2 short pirates with big swords that lead the crew. They never wanted to fight and had some very funny comments. I do not remember a tall captain or a dog on board. I last saw it in the Chicago Sun-times a couple of years ago,but it just stopped appearing. I checked on Ask.com but only came up with the two popular comic strips mentioned above. Maybe someone who lives in Chicago or lived in Chicago can remember.

Thank you all for your answers. I checked the Overboard comic strip and it is not the one I remembered. The one I used to read had 2 short pirates and the strip was always on the ship. No dog or modern references. I will continue to look.

Maybe you're thinking of the last revival attempt of Terry and the Pirates, a classic strip originally done by its creator Milton Caniff and revived around 2000 but without the success of the original.

I agree with Lee. Terry and the Pirates. It's the only pirate comic strip I can think of. Overboard doesn't count.
