The migration in fact is continuous, January, Feb, March; the herds will be located on the south eastern part of the Serengeti Park in Tanzania. moving towards the south.

April, May and June. To avoid the coming dry season they start to move from the south east to south central of the park, they will rest around end of June in the south west of the park.

July they move to north west of the park anticipating the August, September and October rain season across the border in the Maasai Mara – Kenya

Early October they move north east of the Maasai Mara

Late October, November and December they flow south but on the eastern side back to the Serengeti in Tanzania the cycle goes on like that

Each year the migration months might be different because the herds only start moving when the smell of the rains afar reaches them. There is no fixed migration timetable, the animals migrate according to rainfalls patterns

So if you are thinking of going there Tanzania/Kenya contact the park authorities, ask them When are the Wilderbeast passing through or Have they passed your post already . They will give be able to help you book an appropriate post in the Mara or Serengeti for you to experience the greatest event .

I spent a month in Africa at the end of last January into February and about mid Feb. the migration began - but it was late because of the weather - there had not been measurable rain for some time and that's what the wildebeest wait for.

So, it would be difficult to pinpoint an exact time frame. Hopefully you will hit it right cause it is an amazing sight to see. One interesting factor in the migration was all the zebras hanging with the wildebeests - and that's because their eyesight is very poor and the zebras lead the way!

Hope this information helps! Good luck! :)
