It's not a good idea. Having your pores filled with make-up all the time means your skin can't breath or relax. If you do it just once in a while, it's fine, but if you do it on a regular basis, it can speed up the aging process. Nighttime is a good time to let your face get a break from make-up, so if you sleep in it, go without make-up the next day to give your skin a rest.

Your skin, like you, needs to "breathe." Sleep is when our minds and bodies are rejuvenated. Hair and nails grow more quickly during these hours than at any other time of the day. Your skin needs to be free of products which will simply block your pores and inevitably cause breakouts. Consider this: If a patch to help stop smoking can be absorbed through your skin, then so can your makeup!
Moreover, it is before bed when you should give special attention to thoroughly cleansing your skin from the day's grime and oil build-up and use products which will leave you with a soft, firm, wrinkle-free, luminous complexion in the morning. After cleansing and toning, choose a skin care regimen (or assorted products) which works for you and stay with it. Read the ingredients; items with alpha-hydroxy components (vegetable and fruit acids) will help your own skin to renew itself, ridding itself of dead cells. Thus, you won't awake with clogged pores and troubled skin, but a wide-awake, ready-to-paint "canvas" for the next day.

It depends on what type of makeup you wear. Natural makeup such as Bare Escentuals or Physicians Formula contain minerals that allow your skin to breathe. Poor quality products or products with anything more than a sheer coverage is bad for your skin to sleep in. If you don't have enough time to wash your face, use cleansing wipes that don't require water. Or use makeup removing wipes every night, followed by cleansing wipes.

Remember: Every time you sleep in your makeup it does as much damage to your skin as not washing your face for a month.

yes i suppose its bad to sleep in because your pores are blocked with oil & dirt naturally so make up contributes to that and can cause all kinds of skin conditions. Sleeping with eye make up will result in dark circles around your eyes and no one wants to have 'panda eyes' I'd say use make up remover then a gentle facial wash. this way you are allowoing your skin to breath while your sleeping

YES, it can seep into your pores and cause blackheads and that's just not fun. It's always a good idea to wash all makeup off. And wash your face morning and night.

Hell yeah! I wash my face twice a day and my skin literally says "thank-you". All faces needs that pampering and attention you can only get from washing while massaging out oil, dead skin cells, and dirt.
