I know there is a lot of these out there, but for some reason I can't think of any that are just right.
Do you have any suggestions?
I prefer historical figures over literary character, though both will be very helpful.

MacBeth in Shakepeare's play of the same name murdered King Duncan and blamed it on Duncan's sons to claim the throne of Scotland.

I believe Julius Caesar came to power thru a military coup.

King Henry IV (I think it was the 4th) conspired with english nobles to take over the crown. It started the War of the Roses.

Michael Corleone had the heads of the mafia families in NY murdered to solidify and consolidate his power and the power of his own family following his Father's death in "The Godfather."
