If it's something I want to stay together all the time I prefer staples. But if it's temporary, paper clips because I don't want the little holes left behind that frequently get torn into big holes or missing corners.

Paper clips are good if you have to go back and forth to look at the individual pages. I prefer staples because they are more permanent and they can hold a thicker stack of paper with more pages.

The new magic clip is the best. Staple are good for paperwork that old & you are unlikely to pull apart.

I like the paper clips with the little ridges. They grip the paper better and don't slide off.
