How do you decoupage a photo to the back of a plate?

I have copied a photo from 1978 and have tried to decoupage the copy to a clear plate... but have been unsuccessful. The color in the picture tries to run. Can someone tell me how to get this project done?

Get a color copy from a laser printer rather than an inkjet, and the ink won't run.

If you have a Michaels nearby go there and they'll have an answer for ya . Neat idea
