There's been a thousand upgrades between then and now. I want the quickest route to 9.0.2 or whatever. How much will I have to pay?

For an upgrade its about 200 bucs
for the regular version its up to 650 bucs

Get it through a student store. If your not a student, find someone who is. They have the whole adobe studio for less than 600... thats photoshop, illustrator, indesign, flash, dreamweaver, fireworks... etc.
They also sell them seperately.

You can get it free but you rather spend money so go ahead and spend hundreds for something most of the population is getting free and does the same thing
