Some bank robbers dont fit this profile . Fantasy and roleplaying may also drive the younger ones to commit the crime.

Aside from a diminished access to conscience, there is a delusional notion of skill/knowledge that probably resembles that of an idiot savant. A certain arrogance that is increased with successes. And I would suspect there is something of an addictive compulsion to repeat the experience until caught or killed.... essentially because money is not the psychological driver, a need to be seen as somebody special is. As most criminals, the bank robber no doubt counts on guards and even police to be under orders of Liberal-Type Personalities who would rather the life savings of hundreds of people be stolen than to hurt a criminal.
