I would say the Megalodon except that they didn't appear until after the dinosaurs.

So I reckon Mosasaurs, especially Hainosaurus, the biggest one (17.5 m long). They were the top predators in the seas during the Late Cretaceous and probably lurked down low in the shadows and sea-weed, propelling themselves up when they saw prey. They had a double-hinged jaw and flexible skull, like snakes, so they could swallow you whole, like those big snakes do. But they also had enormous teeth (got one on my desk), like crocodile teeth but much much much bigger. So once they had you they wouldn't have been in a hurry to finish you off...

BBC - Science And Nature - Prehistoric Life is an easy answer. If the question is who ate whom the answer is usually the sea monster. Go to the local library and they might have the BBC 'Walking With...' series with all the facts you want and in a really good package. Even the fish were less than safe with a preMesozoic monster named Dunkleosteus (older than the Dinos but really nasty, scared me as a kid in the Denver Natural History Museum when I found I could walk into its mouth) and a shark called Megladon that dwarfs the Great White (tooth size difference is an eye opener). The reptiles though had a large number of BIG killers with the nastiest likely to be Liopleurodon with a 16 foot head and most of it teeth. Look it up along with the BBC by name series. The BBC sites will answer your questions and the shows will settle the dust.

Ask the prey. Doesn't matter where you lived if there was something bigger, meaner and it was going to eat you that was the creature that ws the most awesome predator of your world.
