A couple of suggestions.

1. Stop paying attention to them when they use it. It may be an attention getter. If it's not, then...

2. As Dr. Phil says, figure out what currency he's trading in. Is he or she addicted to vidgames? Take 'em away.

3. Start a cuss fund. For every hell or damn, they owe a dime. For every s*** or similar word, it's a quarter. For every "f" word, it's a buck. Pretty soon they'll be broke.

Parents have a LOT of ammunition. When you're cooking dinner, make a separate plate for them that is nutritionally balanced and completely flavorless (baked chicken with no spices, broccoli with no salt, cheese or anything else and brown rice with a glass of milk). You are not depriving them of anything, but they sure aren't going to really enjoy the meal that everyone else is enjoying.

Find the currency...

Good luck.

Oh yeah - if they don't physically fight you, use lemon juice. If someone tells you to use soap, ignore them. You should *never* put anything that's not a food or drink item in your child's body. That's an unforgivable violation. But if you can use this, it's an effective tool (but they may be too big and it may be more of a fight than you want because it may start other issues).

What kind of example are you setting? Do you let them watch T.V. with profanity, listen to music with language, or hang out with other kids who use foul language? Just don't allow it in the house. You really can't control your children outside the home but make your home a non-profane language sanctuary. GL.

She needs SuperNanny or Nanny 911 or whatever.! But seriously, while she's calm, maybe try sitting her down and being patient with her and talking. She probably wouldn't like yelling. Both of you need to talk to each other to settle this problem. Or this could just be an awkward stage. She could even grow out of it! But remember: Communication is key!

Try saying something like, "such ugly words from a handsome mouth."

And point out girls don't date potty mouths.

And never use profanity around him again. Give the respect you want.

Set him up... have another adult come over... make sure no young kids are around... have this adult have a conversation with the two of you with every other word in the conversation from the other adult being OMG profantic at it best... maybe it will dawn on the teen what it sounds like and how stupid he looks... I don't know... it just a stage they go through to look grown up... they think they're tough and want to impress friends... good luck!!

I charged mine a quarter for every cuss word, when I got enough money in the jar I gave them a choice, if you don't use any cuss words for a week the money is yours if you do it is mine.
P.S. I didn't make much money

Make them put soap in their mouths - maybe after a while they will get to like it and do it by themselves!
