I don't know why it's taking it so long to load, mine loads really fast, but here is how to stop the clicking sounds.
If you’re using Yahoo! Mail Beta on Internet Explorer, those clicks you’re hearing are indicator sounds Explorer provides to tell you each time a server’s being contacted for something, and you can turn them off.
1. From the “Start” pop-up menu on your desktop, select your computer’s “Control Panel.”
2. From this list, pick “Sounds and Audio Devices” (for Windows XP) or “Sounds and Multimedia Properties” (for Windows 2000). A dialog window opens.
3. From the tabs across the top, pick “Sounds.”
4. Scroll down and you’ll find a category called “Windows Explorer.” The last item under this heading is “Start Navigation.” Click this to highlight it.
5. In the box just below this, called “Sounds,” open the pop-up menu and scroll to the top to choose (None).
6. Click the “OK” button to close the dialog window.

The clicking could be some sound effect in the email program, you say the program is in beta, what is it? To check to make sure the clicking isn't a sound effect of the program, try turning the sound off and listen for the clicking. If the clicking seems to be coming from the computer itself, that could be an issue with the hard drive. This would only be the case if the clicking was heard most of the time and not just with one program. If by chance you do hear the sound coming from the computer, back up your important files quickly and run a test of the hard drive to make sure it is healthy.

because that's the default noise that Microsoft has selected every time you hit a web page button. You can stop the annoying click by turning down your volume. The beta version is designed to be used if your connection speed is higher than 56 kbps. Basically, it is designed to be used with a cable connection. If you don't have a cable connection, you should switch back to the old version despite the fact that it isn't as pretty.

If you are on your home computer I would suggest setting up microsoft outlook express, or outlook if you have it. To set it up:
Verizon Yahoo! Mail Outlook Express allows you to add a new email account to your existing profile. This means you do not have to replace your current settings in order to send and receive Verizon Yahoo! Mail messages. Here's how:
From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
Select the "Mail" tab.
Click the "Add" button.
From the Add menu, click "Mail."
In the text box labeled "Display Name," type your name and click "Next."
In the Email Address box, type your Verizon Yahoo! Mail address (be sure to include the portion of your address after the "@" symbol) and click "Next."
Under "My incoming mail server is a..." select "POP3."
Type "incoming.yahoo.verizon.net" in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box.
Type "outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net" in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.
Click "Next."
In the Account Name box, type your Verizon Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the portion after the "@" symbol).
In the Password box, type your Verizon Yahoo! Mail password.
If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the "Remember password" box.
Do not check the boxes labeled "Log on using Secure..."
Click "Next."
Click "Finish."
Note: The Verizon Yahoo! Mail SMTP server now requires authentication. To turn this setting on:
From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
Select the "Mail" tab.
Double-click the account labeled "incoming.yahoo.verizon.net."
Select the "Servers" tab.
Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
Click "OK."
To control deletion of messages from the Verizon Yahoo! Mail server:
From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
Select the "Mail" tab.
Double-click the account labeled "incoming.yahoo.verizon.net."
Select the "Advanced" tab.
In the Delivery section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Verizon Yahoo! Mail messages on the Verizon Yahoo! Mail server as well as on your local computer. Do not check this box if you want your messages to be deleted from the Verizon Yahoo! Mail server after you have received them in Outlook Express.
