No...instead of teaching you to actually play the guitar, you just hit buttons and it makes a pre-determined sound! That's all it is!

it can give you limited ability if you play on hard and expert when shifting your hand, but thats about it. if you want to learn to play guitar, its best to go out and get one and take lessons. then once youre good at real guitar, guitar hero will be easier.
