No they will still be under MEssenger Archive. Well, I am not 100 percent sure but data is not supposed to be deleted with a restore....only the programs and program files. I deleted a whole bunch of pictures once and empties Recycler. When I did a system restore there they were. Wonderful.

if they are in Outlook or Outlook Express, NO
if they are online, NO
if they are in MSN Messenger, NO

this is if you do a System Restore, a Windows feature available through Help & Support

if you are talking about a complete restore to factory settings, if messages are on your computer, YES. If they are online (ie, hotmail), NO

device fix can decrease back up the viruses which you already deleted on your computer, because of the fact it takes a "picture" image of your computer. So say you clean your computer of viruses at present, and can desire to "fix to an in the previous time" .. once you test your computer lower back there's a intense risk that those viruses may well be restored besides. that's why maximum Antivirus manufacturers propose which you change device fix OFF in the previous you get rid of an endemic, because of the fact it could have already scanned the fix archives and amassed the virus(es). After the viruses are got rid of them restart device fix, and which potential your earliest fix element would be AFTER your computer has been wiped clean of viruses.

All your personal info should be okay including your messenger archive. But you can save them if your are worried. Just copy and paste them to notebook. However sometimes programs get corrupted and or deleted and need to be reinstalled. It is always a good idea to save your personal files to an external disk for backup. :) Elaine

if you use restore discs provided with you when you bought the pc, then yes, you'll erase your entire computer! if your thinking about using the windows Xp system restore, i wouldn't recommend it... the only thing windows xp will help restore is missing drivers... in all honesty, any virus', spyware' or misc junk that may have infected your machine cannot be removed by simply using the xp restore... i guess it would be easier to answer if we knew the reason you wanted to use the system restore was...

You can go Backward, and also Forward in
System Restore. You can get it back. Read
the "Welcome to System Restore" box. It tells
you that everything is completely reversible.

If you go back before the date when you recorded
music, you won't find it because you went to a date before you recorded it. Go Forward to later dates
until you find it.
