Zaphod: there is no proof that the Nazis cause the Reichstag fire. All we know is that they benefitted tremendously from it.

I don't know why you do. But it does ring a bell to a degree with what's going on here. The representatives elected by the citizenry are not supporting what half of America believes. We are not ruled by representative government. America the republic, to some, is more important than the ideal of America the democracy.
