because people are just ignorant,look at how racist the world is,because of a color or ethnic and people are scard of whats not normal or change. its sad that in 2006 were still that dumb...........p.s. good question,it might just open someones eyes,better 1 than nun.

It is a very old mistake that everyone makes especially people who have no respect for others .That and the fact noone wants to put forth the effort to find out what is underneath. How many gold mines have went undiscovered by that very practice? I would say quite a few. You have to put forth effort to find the diamonds. I guess it's easier for some people to criticise than to harmonize.

Because they are shallow and don't care to know the 'real' person that is behind the face and looks.
Sadly, this is a fact of life -- and one which I had to confront daily when there were RUDE and ignorant people who would make comments about my Disabled children -- and other Disabled as well. It always astounded me how hateful they were -- and some of these were the most 'preachy' -- with the "holier than thou" attitude and let me know it in many ways.

Because the outside is so much easier to see and judge by than learning what is on the inside.

I don't know, but they do. Dr. Phil dressed people up in fat suits and sent them out on the street and they were treated like crap. They visited the same places in their normal attire and was treated like gold. It's sad. But I figure, if anyone judges people like that , it's their own loss. One day they had some overweight women on stage and one skinny girl. The skinny one was so mean and I thought. I'd rather be fat than to have a personality like hers.

usually because that is the first impression that you get to JUDGE on a person. one should not judge on appearance alone. at least not on the first meeting

because its very hard to get through the ugly to see what is inside. i knew an old woman was so ugly you would get sick just looking at her and she was so mean you could not stand her.
