Welfare does not pay for abortions in the state of Illinois or Missouri, I know that for a fact. Debate issues? Reasons why abortions shoud be legal, one, sometimes there are health risks to the mother and to the baby during prenancy, and to me it is better to get an abortion than to give birth to a child who would never be able to function on his/her own in society, or to give birth to a child with severe defects, where they would live there constant life in pain if they were born. Also, I think that if a mother has HIV or Hepatitis, it is probally better for her to get and abortion than to carry the baby to term, just to have to watch it suffer and dye. These are some good legitamate reasons why abortion shoudl be legal. There are others, such as some parents have children and do not take care of them, to me that is wrong. And some mothers smoke crack during their entire pregnancy and then give birth, to me that is wrong.

The Issues cited by Tammy C Might be valid but the FACT is a MAJORITY of abortions are simply done for BIRTH CONTROL. There are HUNDREDS of products on the market to keep you from getting pregnant if you don't want Children. Murder shouldn't be one of them. Being to Stupid or Lazy to use Birth control isn't a Justifiable reason to take the Life of an Unborn BABY. And how many expectant parents have you ever heard say Come feel the FETUS Kick? The Word Fetus I think was Simply INVENTED to Attempt to make abortion sound a little less harsh. Lets see We are gonna kill the Fetus. Now We are gonna Kill the Baby. Find ONE expecting mother that ask someone to feel her Fetus kick. If you can I truly wanna meet that person.

It is a sad day when people defend abortions instead of defending life.
I don't know where you live, but if you go to the exhibit at the Field Museum in Chicago on King Tut you will see that even over 6,000 years ago they respected life more than we do now. They even make tiny gold masks for fetus' that died. After you view the exhibit it makes you sad that we have become so disrespectful for life.
I don't think it is proper government to have tax money pay for an abortion. If someone chooses to do that under our current government where it is not illegal to have an abortion, that is her choice - and she should have to pay for it - not the tax payers.
Perhaps the money saved from the taxes that paid for abortions would be well spent on a government day care center instead of killing babies for the poor - that way the moms can go to work and the babies will be well cared for.
