From what I understand, that if it was done in the work place and foley inniciated it, yes definitely harassment, but if it was vice versa its a tough call, from what the original page said nothing physical relationship wise happened till he left being a page and was in his 20's....

I think they should be focusing on his relationship with a minor. I remember on one TV show they set up people who had intentions with minors. When they came in the door they were told what was happening and when they walked out of the house, they were arrested. Foley should be arrested. Everyone knows the intentions he had with the child. Just because he was a victim does not give him an excuse to do the same exact thing. Someone with his power should be trying to harshen the penalties for child molesters which would create a better world. Or he should have at least gotten help. Everyone remember Conspiracy of Silence?

I think the issue is also the blatant hypocracy that lies at the heart fo this issue. If Republicans and the faith based, conservative, anti gay marriage, and anti gay stances are so moral...this undermines thier claim to a moral high ground. I would give Foley the medal of freedom right now. Now lets see if someone goes to jail for sexually harm to a minor.

A couple reasons that the 'boys' end of this has been blown clear out of proportion, one for each side:

1: The republicans have been typically against equal rights for Gays, so it shows jaw-dropping hypocrisy on their part. -One for the other party

2: This can be used to reinforce the republican idea that being gay is the same as being a pedophile. -People associate gays with pedophiles and therefor with statuatory rape, therefore with rape: Someone who's pro-gay is suddenly associated with raping children; one for the republicans.

-Total aside: This is abhorrent to me. A paedophile is not gay, a paedophile is a paedophile. Associating gay men with statuatory rapists is like associating all christians with the KKK.

Notice there are no "Out" gays who get convicted of this type of behavior.

The Foley Fallout does not seem to revolve around the fact that they were gay.
It seems to very much revolve around the fact that people knew of Foley's bahavior beforehand.
Where do you get your news from?

The "gay" thing is only more salacious in Republican circles because it freaks them out so much. Most people I know - regardless of party - know and admit that it has everything to do with him and not the gender of his victim.

That they were allegedly covering it seems to be a point of focus.
