There are chemical stump disolvers available at hardware, nurseries etc. But you may have to actualy dig up the roots, if they have spread a long way from the stump.

Yeah. that's a pain. They have chemicals, they have stakes that are supposed to kill the roots. I can't tell you how well they work. You need to keep those shoots cut so you don't end up with 50 trees. Also, it it;s not close to your house and you are allowed to burn you can try that...burn the main part as much as you can to keep it from feeding the shoots. You need to work on the main root stump, it almost has to be killed or gug up to stop what it's doing. I'd try the stakes, call around to nurseries or wal mart or a n arbourist..The arbour foundation or your local master gardeners and ask. I've heard salt does a job on them but, I don't know if it's that ambitious it may not touch it. Good luck.

Dig a pit where the tree used to be. Pour gas in the pit and let it soak for a while. Then light it. It should kill the roots. Without sunlight they should die. All the gas will be burnt off so no ground contaminants.

Drill holes in the stump and pour roundup into them. It tells you how to do it on the bottle.

The leaves and trunk sounds like a lilac. they are often a actual pest and don't continually bloom to tip you off to what they are. i could decrease it right down to floor point and the two dig it up or paint the decrease trunks some circumstances with around up.

That was a good tree. You shouldn't have murdered it, now it's coming back to get you!
Any chemical you use will be noxious to the environment.
I truly hope you don't use any chemicals.
