I think all of these are respectable schools, but probably the one with the best academic reputation is Grinnell. However, I am not sure that Grinnell would be the best choice for a foreign student. The school is good, and I think the students there would be friendly, but it is quite small and it is located in a small town in a VERY remote, rural area. If I was a foreign student coming to the USA, I would like to be somewhere a little more central, a little easier to get around and visit some of the rest of the USA.

You need to study a map and check out where the schools are and what kind of place they are in, and how large the student population is, how many other foreign students are there.

Any one of these schools can teach you what you need for an English degree, but the type of place the school is in, and what the school is like, could make a big difference in how happy you are there!

I am a current freshman at Grinnell, and the school is an awesome place for international students. My next door neighbor is from Bangledash, and I have friends from Africa, Asia, and Europe. There are a number of US students who are considered eithnic minorities as well, such as myself.

Grinnell has a diverse and intellectual atmosphere that is hard to match elsewhere. If you manage to get in, then by all means come! It does worry me that you intend to study English, though. How fluent are you? Be forwarned that native speakers have difficulty doing well in Grinnell English courses, so you may want to take that into consideration when considering where to go for college.

On the other hand, it is quite possible that you will change your academic focuses during the course of your college career - many students at Grinnell do.

If you want a challenge, feel confident in your English abilities, and want to learn more than you ever imagined possible, come to Grinnell. It is, quite literally, an academic haven in the middle of nowhere.

Also, email the admissions office and ask if you can get in contact with an English major who is also an international student. They can tell you a bit about the plusses and minuses of being at the school.

Best of luck!

Choose the best one academically, and choose the one most suitable for you. Check what they are offering as well. Thanks to you.
