There's also the they're/their/there dilemma that also drives me insane.
The your/you're thing is the WORST! I hate it!
And the "We won them!" instead of "We beat them!" thing drives me up a wall.
People don't understand that proper grammar is impressive, will get you farther in life, and just looks and sounds better.

Spelling mistakes are common. I have notice many grammar and spelling mistakes in both questions and answers. However, nobody's perfect, i make errors too.

English, in current years, are being marred by technologies such as SMS, On-line Chats and Emails. People tend to use short forms to write and when it becomes a norm, people adopt them into their normal writing in real life.

I believe the use of proper english is especially important, when corresponding for business purposes (such as legal letters, agreements, contracts).

It is in my personal perception that, in an informal context, minor mistakes are acceptable as long as the message is communicated across...

Cheers.

I think that the answer is simple. We all grew up in different areas of the world. Some places street language is the way to go. Other places people have to use thee's and thou's.

Because basically they don't really know that its LOSE, they tend to write it as they pronounce it (Loose) with a double O and they stretch the word so it sounds LOOSE Instead of lose when they really mean lose.

Yeah I know what you mean. Annoying!

This isn't related to Yahoo Answers but I always laugh when I see an add in the paper for someone selling "Chester Drawers" when they mean "chest of drawers".

Are you an English teacher? I try to use proper grammar, but the cyber world is very.....relaxed....a lot of time it could be a typo though.

Ignorance in grammar, as well as, spelling, (not to mention common sense).

The worst is "bot dat joe; wat dis be;" OMG!! I hate that! But, then again, it is quite funny to think that one would enjoy showing just how ignorant he/she truly is.

What a great generation. They said that "x" was going to be bad...yeah right! Oh, and how about those "SOLs?" They really seem to be working so well!

I think it's because people don't really care for spelling. Maybe they don't put enough thought in to it.
