First of all, I MEAN SOMETHING PRACTICAL. Not a Kazoo or a stick and an empty paint can, but something that you can actually play without looking stupid. Well not stupid, but well.. you're not going to see someone rock out on a Kazoo and become a famous musician or at least be considered "good."

Practical instruments would be things that people actually use. Bass guitar, trumpet, sax, guitar, electric guitar, piano, synth keyboard, etc. Those are some examples.

Anyway, what's the easiest to learn to play? Whenever I try to touch a music keyboard I end up just playing random keys. I've never tried a guitar or anything else though. I'm thinking that I should learn whatever is easiest first then move on to harder instruments. I have absolutely no musical experience by the way.

Of the list you gave, it would be the saxophone, but none of them are going to be "easy". They all take a lot of work and practice to sound good. It would actually be better to learn a more difficult instrument and that way anything that you pick up that is similar will be easier. Why keep making a hard climb up a hill when you can just do one long climb and then it's all downhill?

Like others have said, there is no easy instrument. Guitar might be the best bet for you, there are a lot of websites that can help you learn. This is one of my favorites: www.guitarnoise.com. Playing guitar is fun because you can learn popular songs on it and have them sound good. I play the cello (primarily). Try playing Purple Haze on that without everyone laughing at you.
Piano is a great instrument and easy for some people to pick up, others have trouble coordinating both hands. It really depends on you. If you are dead set on learning it, take some lessons. Soon those random notes will be forming beautiful melodies. For inexpensive lessons, try to find a high school or college student willing to teach you. Good luck and have fun

Piano. The notes are laid out for you very practically so its very easy to use visual clues to help you remember chords and scale patterns, there is also less tactile uncertainty(you dont have to worry about embrochore or developing calluses) so it is easier for beginners to sound better. It is also the intstrument of choice for songwriting, even by people whos primary instrument is different, because of its accesibility and the ability to simultaneously play a melodic line and its harmonic counterpart giving your sense of accomplishment an immediacy. Alot of people when learning instruments are disenchanted early on by the inability to hear their progress in a musical context, if you like what you hear and learn songs that YOU enjoy you are more willing to practice and learn new peices.

Easiest instrument - tamborine. Hardest - Bayan (Type of chromatic button accordion used frequently in Russia) But really any instrument is hard to play well and easy to play badly. Not really a good question.

Learn to play chords on either the guitar or the piano. With chords, you can accompany others and play for enjoyment. You must memorize the chords and fingering, however. Some find it more difficult to learn the fingering on the guitar while others have no problem at all.

I learned to play the piano the traditional way but play almost entirely by chords these days and find lots of people who would like to play like I do. Now I'm learning to play the guitar, which isn't that difficult since I know my chords on the keys--I just have to learn the fingering of each chord.

take some lessons and see what you are the best at... all instruments are going to require some hard work and practice to master... decide what instrument you like the best and go from there. If you enjoy playing the instrument it will be easy for you because you will be having fun while you are learning

The recorder. I learned how to play that in the 3rd grade. It's similar to the trumpet & pretty much every other wind instument, so it's a good instrument to play to get you prepared. Plus,it's a good way to easily to learn notes & help you with finger placements, which is essential to learning how to play any instument.

I play the trombone (even though I am a girl lol) It is really really easy and fun to play. Alot of people have an image that trombone is hard to play because it has no buttons. It is actually really easy and I love the sound! Hope this helped!!!
