There could be a host of problems...Possibly a hardware problem, maybe spyware, registry problems, ect.

My best advice would be to download CCleaner from download.com. Run an update to be sure that the progam is up to date. Then use it to clean up your pc and fix registry problems.

Next, download SpyCatcher from downlaod.com and after verifying that the .dat files are up to date on it, do a deep scan of the pc for possible spyware.

Another quick tip...Click run and type "msconfig" and go to start up tab. Disable any programs that start up that you do not need and disable/uncheck them. Be careful doing this because some programs are needed to run for windows to function properly.

If the computer is slower even before the Windows logo appears than it is likely to be a hardware problem. That could be almost anything, but the most common would be a hard drive, power supply or heat issues.

If the slowdown is only after the Windows logo appears it is more likely to be slowed down by junk (spyware, adware, temp files, you name it). A good site to scan and clean your computer for free is: http://housecall.trendmicro.com

I have had a lot of problems with the service pack 2. You might want to run a spyware check, and a disk defrage. Those should help. Also get rid of any temp internet files you may have that should speed up the internet part.
