hon you are confused there was just as many gay people but they had the good sense to hide in the closet so our children didn't have to see thier foolishness. Now a days they don't care about the future of our kids only about thier own selfish weirdo selfs. they were not born like that either. their just sexualy screwed up people.

"Way back in time" there WAS such a thing as homosexuality. The modern understanding of sexual orientation IS a new thing, but relationships between people of the same sex is not. Going back through time, and across cultures, there were different ways that society allowed for these relationships (often within very specific limits). And when it wasn't allowed, it still happened. The reason it seems that there's more gay people now is primarily because more and more gay people are coming out. Proportions are probably about the same, but when you're not going to be put to death, there's a few more people willing to be known. A bunch more once it's ruled unconstitutional to legislate against same-sex sex.

Furthermore, the modern understanding of sexual orientation, as alluded to above, is that orientation refers to whom one is naturally drawn. Social influences, though, can encourage people to act in very different ways. Not too long ago, marriage was all about money and property. People weren't marrying who they loved, or who they were drawn to even within a specific gender. As that system falls away, people choose marriage partners primarily based on personality compatibility and emotional attatchment; people are freer to act on their feelings regardless of their orientation.

What you should do, instead of judging people, is step back and realize that human sexuality and personality is very very diverse. There have always been gay people around, just no one made as big a deal about it before the christian faith started pushing its bible onto everyone. Oh, and the reason they are more prevalant today is two reasons, society is becoming more accepting so people are coming out easier, and world population has quadrupled in 200 years so there ya go.

The word "gay" didn't exist 200 years ago but that doesn't mean the concept or the practice didn't exist back in the day. There has always been same sex practices back in history but they never called it homosexuality. And by the way, it is NOT a sin. It is a way of life and it is who people are. And there is not a damn thing wrong with loving another person, same sex or opposite. Don't be a hater. What would Jesus think of you?

People have always been gay - they just haven't been so open about it. As they are starting to find now, you can be born gay, it is in your genetics.

It has always existed through the ages. I was reading an article today about how they have found that many animal species are gay. I think if mother nature has the ability to be gay then why can't humans be gay.

lol about 200 years ago there was low tolerance for this kind of thing so they stayed closeted. if you look farther back than 200 years you'll see there were even more gay people than there are now. sexuality was just something that was and no one expected to not be accepted because of your choices unlike now. honestly many of the greatest people in history were gay

There were plenty of gays since the dawn of time. Remember the story of Sodom and Gomorrah?? If you believe in the bible then gays existed in large numbers in biblical times. The reason it doesnt seem as prevalent in historical times is : homosexuals were far deeper in the closet as it was nowhere nearly tolerated as much as it is now.

Homosexuality existed, it was just repressed.
None of us were around a long time ago, so we have to rely on historical records, and they aren't going to give us all the details of everything that went on.......
To your logic, it's like saying no-one ever took a sh*t 200 years ago because there is no evidence of it.
I am getting the finer details of this wrong, but ancient Greeks used to reward their outstanding fighters (?) by giving them young boys to sodomise.

I am straight so this is not a self-defense answer....gays go back as far as time....there are other gay animals aside from man..and what difference does it make if you are "born or made" that way. I know a gay person who has taken up religion up to "Deny" his true self....nothing is sadder............you are who you are...we are all born certain ways and life then molds us........via our experiences....if one happens to end up in a same-sex relationship as opposed to the traditional relationship "who cares" what difference does it make....It is what it is!

There have been gay people from day one. It was just to unimaginable to even think of it. In the beginning of time men ran women's lives...then there was the women's lib movement which put a stop to it which allowed us to start coming out and it goes from there. It is genetic and you need to educate yourself on that. To me homophobics have filthy minds because your only thinking about what we do behind closed doors...hey wait...doesn't that make you a lesbian also...
