I lost mine after I was very ill and then saw my mother and father-in-law die while my wife was pregnant with our son. My belief in God was always shakey what with all the pain that afew rich people pulling all the string inflict on the world as a whole.

If there is a God me and him are gonna have a sitdown and he's got some things to set straight.

after i questioned who wrote the bible and didnt get an answer. also when when i asked my rabbi what was the difference between greek myths and our stories, i wouldnt say he exactly answered the question. i learned that religion is a tool to control people and since its man-made its simple to ask, were we really built to find out the truth? theres probably some type of creator but i doubt its anything weve talked about, it could be a machine for all we know

There is a wonderful quote and I'm ashamed to say I'm not sure who it is attributed to, which is along the lines of, " I have too much respect for the idea of God to think he created this mess." I'm paraphrasing- but that's the position I've maneuvered myself into over the past year. Like you, I've seen horrible things happen to good people and, much as I like the idea of an afterlife where the baddies are punished and the goodies are vindicated, I can't help feeling that that sounds like a very human invention. Something created to make sense of the world and make people feel more satisfied with their lot. The opium of the people and all that... I'm perfectly happy to be proved wrong but I can't help thinking that the eternal life and happiness thing is wishful thinking rather like the end of a film. It boils down to the desire to find order in the chaos.

I'm sorry for your lose. And many people have lost faith in the universe or god. We all get beat up from various events in our lives and it is difficult to untie the knots. Why...? is yet another way to examine the changes in our lives. It is not the answer to the question why, but the many questions it can evoke. It is not just the questions, but the opinions, the conversation and general talk that can actually help us make healthier decisions. There are countless ways. My best wishes to you and yours. I think you will find a way through your faith based questions. Good luck.

I wouldn't say that my faith is lost, but certainly shaken. If I may make a suggestion, read Job. He was a pretty decent guy, doing a lot of the rigtht things, yet he went through pure hell - he basically lost everything. His one mistake is that he judged God.

There is a lot I don't understand. There is a great deal that I do understand. One thing I know is that God is good. (Mark 10:18), despite how I might feel. He does not have to justify himself to me, even though I would like for him to do just that.

Belief is reliance and strong reliance is faith. It means you don't know what is true and you just believing that god is true. You want to believe that he can protect you and your little and fleeting happiness. With this mentality we are prone to be fooled.I think relying on authorities about goodness is false. Good should be discovered by each and everyone. All the people who was deceived was relying. Our mind is afraid to find out that our cherished and nurtured small happiness is fleeting. We cannot accept that life is not constant, it is a process of change.

most of the world have lost the faith to carry in journey....though most will say there faith is strong.........most have come to the pond in the middle of the road and thought they were at the ....it's a place they are comfortabe being and think that any more than that must be in onother life....but they are wrong....our other life is awaiting us right here and right now...it is just a matter of being in another frame of mind said as another world.....and some just do not realize what they have already been show that is beyond human understanding, to help them keep the faith....they made the miracle fit in logic.....it can happen quite easily...fath is not easy

I have always question my faith, my religion, but I never lost faith in what I believed in, which is my god and myself. It sounds like I never went through any turmoil in life, but I did, and what made me a sound person after, was the fact that faith is more than religion, it can be as simple as a devotion to an outcome, the end to a means.

I feel sorry for the pain in your life. I have had many. But I made a choice...i am sure you had to choose too. I made a choice to continue to have faith in HIM...no matter what.

He is a gracious God sweetheart. We each live our share of sorrows....thats how life is!!...i pray God reveals His grace unto you and you have faith in Him again.

Your question kind of hurt me. =0(....but i believe that He will sit down and talk to you. =o).

You take care now!

I admire you for your actions, which some people believe would constitute a gambling of your immortal soul on behalf of your principles.
I lost faith after I decided I would rather risk my soul than sign up in a religion which condemned kind people to hell just because their names weren't on the door list to heaven.
