Recently my father loaned his van to a family member to move some stuff. Now the van smells disgusting! Kind of like trash containing dog feces or cat litter leaked somewhere (although we cannot pinpoint where) Does anyone know of a product we could use or something we can do to help remove this smell? My father has been leaving the windows and doors open but the smell is still strong, I have checked under all the seats and everywhere possible and have found nothing. thanks

Put a 5 gallon bucket of unused clay kitty litter in it w/ the windows up. Leave as long as possible and it will absorb the smell.

We had the same problem. We thought something Died in the car... and then we took it to a place that does "detailing and upholstery care" in vehicles and told them it was an Evil Life Force or something died in the car and they shampooed the upholstery and carpets at least twice and used an industrial deodorizer and we were shocked... the car has smelled wonderful and normal ever since. Cost us about $150. Canadian. If money is an issue for you, there are steam cleaners and rug shampooers for rent in some stores.

We'd tried boxes of baking soda, deodorants, air fresheners, vacuuming the car, looking under seats, had the vents and air conditioning cleaned out, tried febreeze (more than four bottles!), left opened packages of bar soap (strong fruity bars of soap from the body shop), left the windows open overnight, NOTHING worked until we had it professionally cleaned.

Good luck!!

febreeze. you will have to spray it out a few times. wash the car out. then spray it. spray again a few more times. but i swear it works great. i had a small car and gave someone a ride. only after he got out from sitting in the back did i realize he had dog poop on his shoe. which left a horrible smell for days on end. even after cleaning it. i sprayed the area and the rest of the car. after a couple of more times using it you couldnt' tell there was any smell at all. 3x max is what i used it. good luck

Could try Odo-Ban, (about $10) sold at Sam's Club. We had a cat urine smell on a concrete floor and it took it out. My Dad lost a fishing worm in his truck that died. He scrubbed the interior to include the carpet with this stuff and it took out the odor. It's the same stuff used to clean hotel rooms.

Just take a really strong perfume and spray it all over. It should neutralize the bad odour in the car. Try the AmbiPur CAR or something, that might help.

Try laundry powder put them in boxes and leave it in the car and allow the powder to absorb the smell. Or squash some lemon leaves put them in boxes and leave it in the car.
