The grass is green because grass contains chlorophyll, the molecule that converts sunlight into chemical energy. Chlorophyll absorbs all of the other colors in the spectrum, so only green is reflected back to your eye.

It was Einstein who answered the "blue sky" question. It has to do with the way sunlight is scattered by the molecules in the atmosphere. Blue light scatters more than red (Tyndall effect also known as Rayleigh scattering), so more blue light reaches our eye.

There is an excellent description at the website listed below (look at the cartoon and it will be pretty clear).

It is not a reflection from the ocean. And it isn't just water molecules that cause the effect.

Aloha

The sky is blue because of the nitrogen and hydrogen in the air which the suns rays reflects off, and since blue is the lightest color in the spectrum we see it as blue,

whereas the grasses greenness has to do with the clorophyll in the chloroplasts of the plants individual cells

the sky is blue because air is made largely of hydrogen, and when the light hits the hydrogen the blue light is reflected off into your eyes and the rest of the light is stopped by the hydrogen. This is also why bodies of water are blue.

grass is green because plants create energy throught a process called photosynthesis, in whis they absorb light and use it along with carbon dioxide and water to create glucose, a form of sugar, ehich the plant "eats" to sustain life. In the process a substance called chlorophyl absorbs the light and other mateials. chlorophyl is green
