Basketball is not discriminating to Mexican-Americans. It just so happens that they don't have the tallness that has come to be part of the sport. It's not fair to say BB is discriminating against MA, when -no offense, because i don't know- maybe it's just the fact that they are not as good of players as AM, or just americans in general. Think of baseball..... There were no blacks in the sport, until one guy broke the barrier.. BECAUSE HE WAS GREAT. It could end up happening in basketball to, just with Mexican Americans.

It is not discriminatory...Height is a HUGE advantage in basketball, but it is the not the end all and be all of basketball. Actually until Wang ZhiZhi and Yao Ming came into the league there wasn't a single asian that I knew about in the pro's or even Division I NCAA. But back to height, the shortest player ever was 5'3", Tyrone "Mugsy" Bogues. He had to work hard but he made it. Spud Webb could even dunk the ball at 5'7".

It's only discriminatory against skill. Height and race is not a factor in basketball. Look at Mugsy Bogues. Look at Yao Ming. Look at Jason Kidd. They all have skill.

Hold the boat there, captain. The first basketball players were white - jews mostly, from Harlem. They weren't necessarily tall, but it would seem that this is an advantage.
There are basketball teams in virtually every country now - they also have national teams.
There have been short black basketball players, like Spud Webb from Atlanta (?) which proves, that height is not necessarily a requirement.

Oh, please, what discrimination? It's not about where a player is from, but how well he plays. If a player has NBA-level skills, he has a chance. Teams won't care if he's from Mexico.
And Ashley, Pau Gasol from Spain, Eduardo Najara from Mexico, Carlos Arroyo from Puerto Rico, Manu Ginobili and Andrés Nocioni from Argentina, Anderson Varejao fro Brazil, and etc. If you're not seeing Spanish/Latino/Hispanic players in the NBA, you're not really watching the games, because there are quite a number of them currently playing in the league.

I guess I will be one of only a couple people to laugh...ha ha.
However, the gal right before me listed several of the Latin born players, in which soccer is the predominant sport in these countries. Basketball is about 5-10 years behind in most of the Latin-American countries (Argentina excluded) in comparison to Europe.

Ok, u are completly wrong....there is no discrimination what so ever, and even if this was true, u left asians out which proves u think only about mexicans and nobody else which shows ur partially racist, and there is no discrimination

I agree. Basketball is highly unfair. They will not let you score or touchdown or hit a homerun or make a hat trick in basketball. You can only bounce the ball or threw it through a hoop.
They should not discriminate, and should let us kick a field goal, or steal a base, or do whatever you wanted to do.
