Not possible. Children's behavior is based on how they were raised. Poor parenting means poor attitude. One cannot control how parents raise their kids but we could hold them responsible for their children's actions. Start putting parents in jail for not supervising their kids and we would see an improvement, but we won't eliminate it. Kids just do not have respect for themselves or others these days.
Youngcute, I would never give up my right to bear arms just to stop a few stupid kids from doing stupid things. Getting rid of guns will not work. It would cause even more violence. Also guns aren't the only things kids bring into school that can harm others. It is the child's mindset we need to fix.

Well in my area we do have a police officer at every school and we just had a school shooting so that didn't help anything, we have the new wands but they can only do random searches. we have the bell where you have to be rung into the school. I feel as if music, tv and internet has demolished the young kids of today they are exposed to horrible things, when I was younger we didn't have cell phones and internet noone could find out how to make bombs etc. So I feel maybe we should have everyones facebook or any form of social networking monitored. Parents should be in the kids lives more and stop trying to be their friends. I don't understand why people are saying Mental Illness was such a priority in this...Yes he was mentally ill but me as a parent would see my child acting crazy and would get them help....So don't tell me there is no funding for this child to get help...any hospital could've kept someone like this and seen through him....I don't know what else can be done at schools unless you have a cop sit in every class room and that takes away allllll kids freedom...and when someone says God in schools im sorry but as much as I believe in god how is that going to stop these situations from happening.

I think that, first of all, anyone who owns a gun should be required to go through Gun Lessons similar to that of Driving Lessons. I mean why do we take the time to learn to drive? So less people get killed as a result of knowing more. If no one knew how to drive a car yet they drove one anyway they may know a partial truth of how to drive but there would be considerable increase in car-crash related deaths. In the same way, if people who owned guns were educated on how to use a gun, how to keep yourself and your friends and family safe from the guns and the like the world would be a safter place. I realize and agree with the statement guns don't kill people, people kill people but if there was an increase in knowledge of how to safely store your gun and if the equiptment requred to safely store your gun (meaning children or anyone other then the person who went to Gun School was NOT able to get to it) then the world or at least the US would be a safer place.
Though I do not know of the exact gun age limit (IE how old u have to be to own a gun) I think the age limit of 18 to own a gun should be strictly enforced.

The bad guys prefer unarmed victims!!.
When seconds matter calling 911 and asking the bad guy to wait is not a viable option.
Better to have a gun and not need it than to need it and not have it!!!
**Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens.**
So you are against the private ownerships of gun! Do you believe in fire extinguishers? Why, you can always call the fire department!!
No Weapons Allowed
Criminals this is a defense free zone
All law abiding people have been disarmed for you

There is no way to stop school shootings. We can't control kids anymore. I once saw a group of 5-year-olds walking around swearing, fighting, and talking like gangsters and I wished that I was their parents so I could give them a smacking that they would never forget. There is no way to control what anyone does, because usually the shootings were brought on by something else that happened to the shooter that made them do what they did. It is kinda like a chain reaction that can't be stopped because all people have a certain gene in them that makes them snap every once in a while.

I think we have to re-examine bullying and victims of bullies and instead of just having conflict resolution as part of the solution, look to teaching boys and girls, men and women about rankism and dignity. We also have to examine the roots of why there are so many angry young boys and young men and men.
Is it they're just impulsive? Or is it something in the reptilian part of their brains which doesn't function properly? Are they mentally ill? Should there early immediate diagnosis and counelling without parental consent because apparently alot of parents are oblivious to their kids making threats and getting guns . Or they're into ostriachism just sticking their heads in the sand because it's too much of a hassle.
Whatever it is we need to stop violence in school now for boys and girls too.
I don't know if it's teaching parents and teachers and society to think differently about bullying and violence or what.

Honestly? Have parents keep better tabs on their kids and their guns. There isn't a whole lot that schools, principals, and teachers can do. Strip searches of kids happening everyday? Not going to happen. Metal detectors can be fooled, and if a kid really wants to bring a gun in he/she will find a way. There's no real profile of kids who do school shootings and teachers report the kids with strange behavior but you can't arrest someone because they look/act a little bit crazy.

I'm not sure it is possible, but the reason for a lot of school shootings is the reperssive atmosphere of school itself, coupled with the false view of us adults that when WE were in school it was a "safe haven."
Sure, "safe haven" from bullies, rigid social standards, unsupportive family members, abusive and exploitive school faculty members? It's amazing that there aren't MORE school shootings!!

Give guns to every student, when the smoke cleared there would be no more shootings. I know, I know. Just for your information better School security will help in not having school shootings. But somebody bent on breaking the law will find a way to do it. Just think in the 50's it was stabbings.

Youngcute is right banning guns will work out great. In fact we should go all out and ban school shootings. We can control all illicit behavior by making a new rule. I am on a roll, lets ban drugs.
School violence is on the way down not up. I realize that there have more on TV and some gruesome ones at that but they are on the way down.
I am in favor of arming teachers, even if you banned guns the people who shoot up schools are not very law abiding.
