I'm 14, and I'm really angry about the way people treat me. I am always ridiculed simply because I am young. Every question I ask on this site, I'm insulted. Everywhere I go with my friends, I get strange looks. And I'm always avoided when I walk into stores. What's the deal?

I apologize for all the closed-minded, ignorant, prejudiced adults out there who have offended you. Many adults are so saturated with the negative news, etc. surrounding teens these days that they sterotype everyone in that age bracket. Apparently this is what you've been experiencing. Granted it is a totally different world now but they tend to forget that they were young once and the struggles that they faced. Unless there is a reason behind their treatment of you that you haven't shared, I agree that you have been wronged. Please remember though that not all adults out there have that kind of mentality and try not to repeat the behavior of the very people you are complaining about by putting us all in the same group. There are still some of us that are non judgemental and go by a person's actons, qualities, etc. instead of just their age.

People treat me like I'm some innocent angel, and I'm twelve. o.0
Example: at Six Flags, I watched as my older brother had to show the people as he walked through security look at his phone and his items in his pocket. I watched his friend hand them his phone and have them ask him what it was and what was in it sternly. (Dude, it's a ******* phone) I watched my older sister's friend have to lift up his shirt and take off his belt. I also watched as they sat there searching through my older sister's purse.
Now, I hand them my phone, and what happens? Security guard: "Oh, it's okay, you can just go." xDD I sat there and watched as they searched my older sister and brother and their friends, yet I can just go ahead.
Sorry. It was funny to me.
And my god, every single time I ask a question on this site that has anything, ANYTHING to do with the human body, I get insulted and told to go 'do my homework', 'not worry about those things', or that 'I'm too young to ask that'.
As for stores and friends, people treat me nicely. Everyone has always treated me maturely, yet just really.....politely.

Also, I just wanted to add that some people above said that many kids these ages today DO act like felons. But, so do adults. Why aren't they treated this way? Adults steal, adults kill, adults rape, adults drink irresponsibly, adults drive irresponsibly. Why are teenagers the ones treated like criminals?

I may be the way you look and act. Having respect for yourself and others and showing it will help. Adults do not believe teens have any respect. Those teens that treat me with respect are treated the same way back. It comes down to the stereotypes that people have for teens. It may take time but show you are different. Just from the way you have worded these questions it appears you care.

Think about this:
You are 14 you are already mad at the world because you say they treat you like crap. That is the first thing people see when they look at you, you are angry. I always told my own kids that respect is earned not given. If you want respect from other people you can't walk around waiting for the next person to get mad at.

It's because people are ignorant, and think that all teenagers are screw ups. I go through the sme thing were I love cause my family gave me a bad reputation and all my teachers expect me to be the same. All you can do is prove everyone wrong. My teachers are baffled cause I'm a straight A, B student, and I haven't gotten in to any fight, or been caught with drugs...

Because most in that age range are mouthy little asses that act like felons, or are felons. Maybe you're not, but you can't really blame people for thinking that way seeing the percentage these days that are just totally out of control.

Is it always? Or more honestly sometimes.....I think most kids of middle teenage years feel hard done by in the adult world......hang in there, you get a turn of being one of "them" in the meantime try not to look, act or dress like a felon!!! Enjoy your adolescence!!!!

Sweetie it may not be you, alot of teens that do bad things give the good ones a bad name. Just continue to be a good kid and not worry about what other people think if you know you are a good person then it shouldnt matter what other people think

Keep in mind, there is a large percentage of people in that range that DO act like felons. It isn't right to stereotype you though.
