so i take trivora-28 for birth control. i have tried before to skip a period by immediately starting a new pill pack instead of taking the week of placebo pills, but each time i do this, i STILL manage to get my period. its not as heavy as it normally is if i take the placebos, but it is definitely still coming. i need to talk to my dr about this but i wanted an idea of why this would happen. thanks.

according to my doctor and just about every doctor i've spoken with, intentionally skipping a period occasionally is perfectly safe. it's the continued skipping of a period(when you're not on a BC like seasonale, etc) that is unsafe. i very rarely skip my period on purpose but on occasion, i choose to when it's going to be a hassle to have it, like when i travel. thank you.

why do you want to skip your period? That is very dangerous. You could be seriously putting your body and your fertility in danger. Birth control is not intended to stop or prevent periods. They are just a natural process for females.

You're supposed to have a period. Your body has to flush that out. If you want them less frequently, look into that new shorter period pill. I've seen the adds on TV.
