I would like to find a reasonably priced hotel for 1 week. Preferably with a small kitchen. Private room would be nice.

The Hisbiscus Inn might be a reasonable choice for you.... its not right on Siesta Key, but is about 1 block east of the south drawbridge on Stickney Point Rd. It looks clean, some rooms have kitchens, there is a pool and is also next to the local bus line. Prices didn't look too outrageous for down here. I had to research the same topic for my parents when they visit me at the end of the month, which is how I came across this place. It IS on kind of a busy road and on foot is most likely 20 minutes to the beach (about 5 by car without any lights or waiting for the bridge). There are a few more hotels on Long Boat Key, but that is a MUCH different scene and is geared for wealthy retirees. Plenty of bars and places to eat and catch live music on Siesta though, along with the AWESOME beaches. Hope this helps, the Hibiscus DOES have a website.
