Some artists that don't have much talent get label deals. That is bringing down the level of music in this country. Who agrees?

I agree with you whole heartedly. Pop music is not about talent, and hasn't been for a while. TV and radio channels tell people what to like, and many americans just listen to them. People should make their own decisions about what is really good with music.

Yes, but that's not new. Style over substance has always been the way in the music industry. It's why I won't go see a concert if I haven't heard a live performance before. Some artists just suck without the magic of the studio.

If the people wouldn't buy everything the labels promote, then labels would be forced to improve the quality of their products, no?

I guess this explains the surge in independent record labels and musicians.

There is a plethora of great music out there. You just have to turn off the radio or TV to hear it.

There is still some great music out there, it's just finding it that's the hard part. And besides, one mans trash is another mans treasure. Some one must like half of the the stuff I think is trash or it just wouldn't sell.

There were plenty of artists in the 80's that didn't have much talent either. They were one hit wonders then we never heard from them again.
